Harvard Square was transformed into a vibrant hub of Filipino culture at the 3rd Annual Filipino American Festival! This exciting event, held in partnership with the Harvard Square Business Association’s Annual Mayfair, brought together a diverse crowd to celebrate the rich heritage of the Philippines.
A Day Filled with Filipino Joy
The festival was a sensory feast, offering something for everyone. From the moment you stepped into Harvard Square, you were immersed in the sights, sounds, and tastes of the Philippines.
- A Musical Extravaganza: The air was filled with the sounds of traditional Filipino music and modern beats. Renowned artists like Roland Abante (America’s Got Talent 2023 Semi-Finalist), Christian Bono, Lauren & Carlo, Ellen & Kats, and DJ Jovie J took the stage, captivating the audience with their incredible talent.
- A Fashion Forward Experience: The Filipino Fashion Show showcased the stunning designs of local and international designers. From elegant gowns to modern streetwear, the show highlighted the diversity and creativity of Filipino fashion.
- A Culinary Adventure: Food lovers were in for a treat. A variety of food vendors offered authentic Filipino dishes, including lechon, adobo, and halo-halo. The festival also featured a Filipino Beer Garden, where attendees could enjoy refreshing drinks while soaking up the festive atmosphere.
- Cultural Immersions: The festival offered a glimpse into Filipino culture with traditional dance performances, cultural exhibits, and interactive activities. Visitors had the opportunity to learn about Filipino history, art, and music.

Fashion shines in Harvard

Tradition and innovation came together in a spectacular fusion last 6 October at the inaugural Philippine Fashion Show during the recently concluded 3rd Filipino American Festival in Harvard Square. Hosted by the Harvard Square Philippine American Alliance, this milestone event marked the first time Filipino designers showcased their modern creations in celebration of Filipino craftsmanship, culture and pride.

The Harvard Square Philippine American Alliance, Inc. (HSPAA) has been awarded a $2,500 grant from the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency, through its Festivals & Projects Program.
This funding highlights the vital public value that HSPAA provides through its various programs and services, which aim to foster cultural awareness and community engagement within the Filipino American community and beyond. Specifically, the grant will support HSPAA’s flagship event, the annual Filipino American Festival at Harvard Square, which brings together thousands of attendees to celebrate Filipino heritage through music, dance, and food.

2nd Asian street food & music festival (2024)
Cambridge, MA – April 9, 2024: Harvard Square, the heart of cultural fusion and community spirit, is set to come alive on May 5, 2024, as we proudly present the 2nd Annual Asian Street Food and Music Festival in partnership with the Harvard Square Business Association. This year, we’re also thrilled to announce the 3rd Annual Filipino American Festival, a celebration of Filipino-American heritage, taking place on October 13, 2024.

October 8, 2023 Cambridge, Massachusetts
The 2nd Annual Filipino American Festival, was held together during the 44th Annual Oktoberfest and HONK! Parade on Sunday, October 8, 2023, in Harvard Square, was a grand success, attracting around 155,000 attendees. The festival was founded by Catherine and Satrick Uy of the Harvard Square Philippine American Alliance (HSPAA) and celebrated the Philippine History Month. The event featured a variety of performances, food, and merchandise from Filipino culture, as well as a colorful parade that started from Davis Square and culminated at Harvard Square.
The parade was led by the first HSPAA Hermana Dr. Dely and Hermano Harry Go, Consul General of the Philippine Consulate General in New York Senen Mangalile, and Madame Fe Mangalile, first Harvard Tagalog Preceptor Lady Aileen Orsal, and various dance groups with colorful costumes .The parade showcased the diversity and richness of Filipino heritage, as well as the solidarity and pride of the Filipino-American community.
